Abstract

The age of children is a period of exploration, both in play and movement, which requires high-intensity body activities, especially involving the feet. One common issue that occurs in children's feet is flat foot, which is a syndrome and deformity disorder, both static and dynamic. This activity aims to determine the presence of flat feet in children aged 6-8 years at SDN 3 Puro, consisting of 21 children divided into 2 classes: class 1 with 12 students and class 2 with 9 students. This activity took place on January 4, 2024, at SDN Puro 3. The implementation method of this community service is carried out in 4 stages: (1) direct problem identification through the headmaster of SDN Puro 3, (2) direct observation with the students of SDN Puro 3, (3) screening examination by imprinting the soles of the feet using water-based paint on paper, (4) implementing a maintenance and prevention program for flat foot disorders. Flat foot examination is conducted using the wet footprint test. Based on the examination of 21 children, the results for class 1 include 3 students classified as normal and 9 students classified as flat foot. For class 2, there are 6 students classified as normal and 3 students classified as flat foot. Providing exercises using the heel raise exercise method can improve the strength of leg muscles, especially the gastrocnemius and plantar flexor muscles in flat foot conditions.
